KAHLA presents porcelain for all seasons and every occasion

From 4th to 8th July 2008 the German porcelain manufacturer KAHLA/Thüringen Porzellan GmbH presents a charming mixture of summer and winter at the lifestyle fair “Tendence Autumn + Winter” in Frankfurt/Main. The fair is part of the new trade fair group “Decorate Life” where porcelain trendsetter KAHLA will show fanciful décors for all seasons and every occasion. The “Porcelain for the Senses” will be presented at hall 4.0, booth B33.

With its new décor “Valentine” the design awarded collection Five Senses (design: B. Schmidt) showcases the colour trend red, a favourite colour for kitchens – whether as a wall, furniture or kitchen utensil colour. KAHLA has created the right porcelain for this style. Designer Cornelia Müller combines an exotic flower motif in red and rosé with articles in red solid colour creating freshness and harmony at the table.

The successful collection Cumulus (design: B. Schmidt) introduces the new décor “Martinique” (Design: R. Buschner) which fulfils the desire for summer and sun creating a sense of a tropical island feeling at the table. A lilac toucan combined with white blossoms and leaves appears on plates, cups and bowls. The décor is available on white porcelain as well as on the hand applied glaze colour Aqua offering a beautiful combination of possibilities.

The exclusive line OPUS (design: speziell produktgestaltung) surprises with three new décors which perfectly support the architectonic shape of the porcelain. KAHLA follows the trend topic glamour and shows stylish tableware with fascinating décors, as OPUS “Crystal” with sparkling Swarovski crystals, OPUS “Gold” (design: C. Müller) with a  golden mesh structure and OPUS “Silver” with a soft metallic décor. All three décors are perfect for creating a festive table.

Also touch!, the world’s first porcelain with a velvety soft surface (idea: speziell produktgestaltung), shows new innovative ideas. Introducing the two new colours yellow and coral, touch! is now available in nine colours. With these fresh trend colours this comfortable porcelain creates a perfect start to the summer. For the nationwide touch! summer promotion, which will start at German retailers from mid July onwards, the Five Senses macchiato mugs will be offered with different summer motives. Cocktail, sunshade and palm trees set the right mood for relaxed summer nights with cool drinks, which stay fresh and cold due to the patented touch! coating. Besides an attractive sweepstakes KAHLA offers its retail partners an advertisement in the magazine “Vanity Fair”. KAHLA thereby ties up to the Five Senses barbecue promotion, which has been placed on the market at the beginning of April.

Within the concept “KAHLA individual”, which was introduced last year, touch! is successfully positioned in retail. Individualised porcelain has become a popular gift idea. Now KAHLA expands the existing colour and motif range, offering innovative porcelain ideas for every season and every occasion. Customers will find the perfect birthday, wedding or Christmas gift.

Also for those customers who are looking for more traditional and festive Christmas ideas, KAHLA offers an interesting new porcelain décor on the collection Aronda (design: B. Schmidt). KAHLA re-interprets the classic wooden art of the Erzgebirge, a region in the German federal state Saxony, by introducing the décor “Erzgebirge“ (design: C. Müller) with well-known motives of typical wooden figures such as angels, miners and nutcrackers. For retail KAHLA offers an interesting promotion:  KAHLA in cooperation with the German manufacturer Richard Glaesser GmbH will offer customers a handmade wooden figure for free with every purchase of KAHLA porcelain.

Another Christmas idea: The popular sugar loafs of the KAHLA collection Five Senses (design: B. Schmidt) will be offered as annual editions with alternating décors. The first two editions show the motives “Santa Claus“ and “Angel“. Special highlight of the sugar loaf: a spoon can be stored inside. These fun gift ideas are perfect as small presents or for storing holiday treats. Those who have a sweet tooth will be thrilled.

News from the world of KAHLA

For its recent collection Diamonds & Pearls (design: B. Schmidt, M. Rissanen) KAHLA received the FORM 2008, its 63rd international design award, further demonstrating the success of the company’s design-oriented direction. Also, OPUS has been nominated for the Top Hotel Star Award in the category design. In the August issue the readers of the German Journal “Top Hotel“ can vote for their personal porcelain highlight of the year.

Also the Rex Hotel at Ho-Chi-Minh-City is enthralled by the design of the collections Diamonds & Pearls and OPUS. The modern 4-star house at the centre of Vietnam’s biggest city sets value on quality “Made in Germany“ and will use the porcelain in its restaurants and cafés.

Just before the opening of the Olympic Summer Games KAHLA’s hotel division announces new references at this year’s host country China. KAHLA recently supplied the InterContinental Beijing North, the first luxury hotel of the Beijing Olympic Centre, which opened in April 2008. The InterContinental hotel group, which is with its 59 hotels the largest international hotel operator in China, chose innovative KAHLA products as well as design and quality “Made in Germany”. Also the hotel group’s new house at the Chinese city Quingdao decided for KAHLA: Multifunctional bowls and platters of the successful collections Update and Five Senses are perfect for international, Chinese and Cantonese food. Another successful reference in China is the Marriott City Wall Hotel in Beijing. KAHLA provided writeable platters from the collection Notes which allow personal messages like handwritten welcome greetings for the guest rooms.

KAHLA is also successfully positioned in Chinese retail. In April 2008 KAHLA recently opened a partner shop at the Beijing Shin Kong Place together with Fissler, the German producer of high-quality pots. At the economic centre Shanghai KAHLA’s sales partner Shiamas just opened their new flagship store “Exclusivités” at the luxury shopping mall “Plaza 66” offering high-class tableware and interior design.

KAHLA’s promotional porcelain branch Artvertising announces new interesting references. Parador, a producer of high-class floor covering uses touch! mugs and rewriteable Notes platters as welcome gifts for customers at international fairs. Philips Medical Care chose macchiato mugs from the colourful bistro line Pronto as promotional gifts. Pronto is also the favourite collection of Hohner, a company producing printing presses. Cups and plates were produced in the company colour orange.
