KAHLA Kreativ: Multitude of new ideas

The 5th International Porcelain Workshop KAHLA Kreativ starts on Monday, 14th June 2010: Under the motto “INVENTURE” KAHLA/Thüringen Porzellan GmbH gives 12 participants the opportunity to deal for four weeks with the design potential of porcelain. Four German and eight foreign participants have been chosen for the 5th International Porcelain Workshop KAHLA Kreativ which takes place from 14th June to 9th July 2010:
Eva Aebi (Switzerland), Magdalena Gazur (Poland), Lisa Charlotte Grahner (Netherlands), Johanna Hitzler (Germany), Eszter Imre (Hungary), Rebecca Maeder (Switzerland), Alim Pasht-Han (Germany), Chloé Peytermann (Switzerland), Danijela Pivasevic-Tenner (Germany), Kirsti Karoliina Taiviola (Finland), Mei-Shiu Winde-Liu (Germany), Anne Xiradakis (France).
„With five ceramists, four designers, two artists and one student we have an ideal mixture, expecting a creative mutual enrichment for the works to be developed”, says Günther Raithel, partner of KAHLA/Thüringen Porzellan GmbH.

Besides experiences with ceramic materials, the variety of previous works and the potential for development belonged to the selection criteria of the jury. Under this year’s motto „INVENTURE“ a progressive artistic demand and experimental courage were asked for.

The results of the participants creative production will be presented in a forum on 9th July 2010. In the inspiring environment of the production areas of KAHLA/Thüringen Porzellan GmbH a high-ranking audience of artists, designers, experts and press is expected.

KAHLA has received 150 applications from artists, designers, ceramists and students from all over the world. Compared to the last edition of the workshop, the number of applicants has doubled in 2010. 40% of the applications came from Europe, Japan, USA and Canada. This high international and artistic response is another sign for the high degree of brand awareness of the German brand KAHLA – Porcelain for the Senses, states Günther Raithel.

The 5th International Porcelain Workshop KAHLA Kreativ is financially supported by the museum Porzellanikon Selb and the Sachsen Bank Leipzig. Thus, KAHLA is supported by two partners who share the vision of bringing together people from all over the world in a creative think tank.
