Hygiene Porcelain from KAHLA is odour free, does not impair flavour and is anti-bacterial. Other types of ceramics have a residual porosity, but the water absorption of hard paste porcelain is below 0.1%, which means porcelain is classified as being waterproof and impermeable, thus corresponding to the highest international hygiene standards.
Grace to its extreme density, even persistent dirt marks can easily be removed from the porcelain. However, the use of too much cleaning agent can cause coatings, the use of too little can cause lime deposits. Lime stains can be removed by using water mixed with vinegar or lemon juice. Stains caused by tea or coffee will disappear when cleaned with dental cleaning tabs or baking powder mixed with hot water. Marks from cutlery on the glaze can be removed with a porcelain cleaning agent (e.g. www.etol.de), gentle scouring agent or steel cleaning agent.
Dishwasher Due to the inglaze and underglaze decorations, KAHLA porcelain is absolutely dishwasher safe. Some onglaze decorations are an exception – please find indications in the price lists; however these décors are classed as being dishwasher proof. White, undecorated porcelain is dishwasher safe without any restriction. The KAHLA innovation „touch“ – the worlds first porcelain with a velvety-soft surface coating – also is 100% dishwasher safe.
Chemicals Whether with or without a décor, KAHLA porcelain is resistant to staining by foodstuffs, and is also resistant to chemicals, alkalis and acids. The lead-free feldspar glaze does not release any substances and it cannot be damaged. Marks from cutlery on the glaze are caused by soft metals, but do not damage the hard glaze and can be removed with porcelain cleaning agent (e.g. www.etol.de), gentle scouring agent or steel cleaning agent.
